Shopping center Berlin Marzahn

The Berlin district of Marzahn was the largest large housing estate in the days of the GDR.

The district of Marzahn has its origins in a medieval Angerdorf – the former village center has been a listed building since the 1970s. By the end of the 1980s, a huge, green urban landscape had developed around the old village, along with the large housing estate made up of prefabricated buildings, for which Marzahn is known today. Finally, in 2001, Marzahn and Hellersdorf merged.

Trend-conscious Berliners rumor that Marzahn could develop into a hip residential area in the coming years or decades – today there are still mainly prefab buildings in which you can find apartments with comparatively low rents, and a few parks.

But a promising art scene is slowly developing. The prejudices that many Berliners who live in the center of the capital harbor against the residents of Marzahn seem to be disproved more and more.

The monumental residential buildings rise up to 24 floors. There are also a number of promising shopping centers between the Marzahn districts – fashion, services, culture and many other sectors are represented here.

Residents mostly meet in the shopping centers to go shopping together, because only a few Berlin tourists take a closer look at the district on a sightseeing tour.

So if you want to go shopping away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, you should take a closer look at the shopping centers in Berlin Marzahn.

Customers willing to buy will find everything they need or want in the shopping center: small designer shops and extensive electronics stores await their customers.

When it comes to culinary delights, the Eastgate scores with variety – delicious food from different countries of the world satisfies hunger during a shopping tour.

There is also an open-air stage in the shopping center, where numerous events and promotions are organized, including fashion and sports. Even music festivals heat up the crowd. Boredom is out of the question in the Eastgate and even the little visitors get their money’s worth.
