Germany in July: Weather, Fun Festivals & Travel Tips
Germany weather in July – temperature and rain
July is the warmest month in Germany.
The average monthly temperature is around 17 degrees in the north and 18 degrees in the south. During the day, a maximum of 21.2 °C is reached on average. On a daily basis, however, values of over 30 degrees are often reached. At night, an average of at least 12.2 degrees is measured. Especially in the big cities, it stays much warmer at night.
In July, the temperature differences between the cooler regions in the north and west, which are under the influence of the sea, and the warmer, more continental south and east, are particularly pronounced. The peak summer temperatures are also measured there.
The summer heat often erupts in violent thunderstorms with sometimes large amounts of rain. This is why July, with an average of 79 mm of rain, is also the second wettest month in Germany (just after June with 80 mm). At the same time, longer periods of drought can occur in the east.
The sunshine duration is still high with 210 – 220 hours per month. In southern Germany, the maximum is only now being reached.
